Experience

Samantha has gained valuable skills, experience and knowledge working at various schools and non-profit organisations. While studying her undergraduate and honours degrees she volunteered as a Mentor at Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Africa, an Intake Facilitator at the Teddy Bear Clinic for Abused Children, and a Telephonic Counsellor at the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG). Later she completed her internship as a Trauma Counsellor at the Johannesburg Parent and Child Counselling Centre, where she had the opportunity to work with and learn from various mental health professionals, including Clinical Psychologists, Educational Psychologists, Social Workers and Registered Counsellors. Samantha’s love for working with children led her to complete her internship in Gestalt Play Therapy at Childline and Panorama Primary School, after which she continued to work as a Counsellor at Panorama Primary School for two years. Her growing desire to become a psychologist led her to complete her Masters degree in Educational Psychology and internship at Cedarwood School, a full-time remedial primary and high school. Here she increased her knowledge base by closely working with Psychologists, Remedial Therapists, Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists while providing play therapy, assessments and workshops to learners, parents and/or teachers. After registering as a Psychologist at the Health Professions Council of South Africa she joined a private practice in Morningside and at the Bryanwood Therapy and Assessment Centre. Samantha has also worked as an Educational Psychologist at Crossroads Remedial School for three years. Currently, she works as an Educational Psychologist at Cedarwood Remedial School.
